FAST Efficient Ways to Improve Your Health & Mindset This Week

This girl just turned 53 on May 3rd 🥳🎂 Today was my Great Grandpa Schweitzer’s birthday. He passed many years ago, but we used to always have our birthday parties together when I was growing up. My family was all about efficiency and the German work ethic.

This week’s newsletter celebrates my love of efficiency! Getting shit done! As quickly & efficiently as possible. Nothing makes me happier. I LOVE a good shortcut. Getting the most benefit from the least amount of work is pretty much my life’s goal.

You might be shocked by my love of efficiency after many a rambling, storytelling newsletter. I also love to tell stories and make myself and others laugh. 🤣 I am multifaceted, just as we all are. I can love efficiency AND rambling!

In honor of efficiency, I am making a bit of a shift with these newsletters. I have been listening and observing, trying to understand where people struggle or get stuck with health and healing. Health and healing are my jam. My true passion in life. My #1 top priority for my own life and for my immediate family (me, Simon, and the pets). 😻😻 My entire business is based on health & healing for Body, Mind, and Spirit.

I see people struggle all the time. My own family, friends, and clients. I struggle myself sometimes to be fair. Yet, for the most part, I have this health thing figured out. The whole point of this newsletter and my business is sharing those ‘secrets’ with the world. How to be happy, healthy, and be able to just relax & enjoy life. 

It took me YEARS to figure out my own path to health and I want to shortcut that whole process for you. I want you to find the FASTEST ways to get healthy, stay healthy, and just FEEL GOOD. Ain’t nobody got time to feel like crap and suffer through this life that is flying by at the speed of light lately!

(Anyone else noticing time speeding up?? Simon & I joke every January when we put away our Christmas decorations… “Well, we’ll be getting these back out in a couple of months!” 🎄🎅)

This Week’s Shot of MINDSET

What am I doing this week to have a healthy mindset? 3 key things. Try one or two when you have a few minutes, see what happens.

  1. Meditating in the morning to start my day with a quick dose of peace & quiet. 🧘‍♀️ Meditation can be as easy as sitting in your favorite quiet place, closing your eyes, taking 3 deep breaths, and just releasing old stressed energy and welcoming fresh, new loving, joyful, peaceful energy. Even 5 minutes is better than none.
  2. Journaling for a few minutes in the morning. 📕 Write out things your mind is struggling with or stressing about. Get it all out on paper so your mind can rest. I bet new, fresh ideas for solving things will come while you write. Write down what you are grateful for in your life and ideas that come to you for cultivating more health, love, joy, and peace.
  3. Listening to some Michael Singer Podcasts while I get ready in the morning or while I am cooking a healthy meal. Helps to release old, stuck energy, release the need for things to be different, and just allow natural wellbeing to flow.

This Week’s Shot of HEALTH

What am I doing this week for my health? Getting to the grocery store so I have all of the ingredients I need to cook 1-2 weeks worth of healthy plant based meals. This action done over and over saves me SO MUCH time and money! My #1 tip that I want to shout from the rooftops.

Simon and I are in our 50s. We only see a doctor once per year for checkups. Our blood work always shows everything in the healthy range. We rarely get sick. We don’t take medications or supplements (B-12 only). All of that dealing with doctors & pharmacies can take up a lot of time. I see it happen to people all the time.

As my mentor and favorite plant based doctor, Dr. McDougall, says, “It’s The Food!”

The easiest way to always have healthy meals on hand for us is using Lindsay Nixon’s Meal Mentor plant based meal plans. It costs me < $11 per month to have pdfs I can save and use again and again and an app on my phone with 7 family sized and 7 individual recipe options each week. A great description from Lindsay:

A quick peek at one of my recent meal plans:

Choose the recipes you like, add to a grocery list on your phone, one trip to the store, and you have everything for 1-2 weeks of meals. I shop for a whole week of family sized recipes, cook 3-4 each week, and have leftovers for lunch. One meal plan usually lasts 2 weeks for our family of two. We go out to eat about once per week.

We eat plant based because we love the food. It is filling, delicious, and there is a healthy plant based version of any comfort food favorite you can think of. 🍝🌮🍔 I am a total nutrition science nerd 🤓 and the preponderance of evidence seems to be stacking up for a mostly plant based diet being best for maintaining a healthy weight and preventing and even reversing a whole host of common diseases. Win-Win-Win!

You may have a completely different diet that works best for your body and to bring you optimum health benefits. Most people know how to eat healthy and have done it many times. It’s getting in the groove of doing it every week that is often the hardest. That’s why ready-made meal plans are so great. Find someone offering some meal plans for your favorite healthy diet and give it a try.

Having healthy meals ready to go and moving my body a bit every day keeps my weight in check, my health numbers looking good, and my mood stable. It saves us tons of time and money as plant based groceries are fairly cheap and we spend very little on traditional health care.
